Talking Libraries is a northern based project designed to educate people in the community about mental illness.
Mental illness can not only affect the individual but can have an adverse affect on many aspects of the person's life. Some of which can include employment, family relationships, financial, social networks, friendships, physical health, and the ability to socialize in the wider community.
Talking Libraries aim is to reduce the stigma and barriers that are associated with Mental Illness.
To achieve this,Talking Libraries members visit organizations and deliver a presentation that includes information on mental health facts, sharing their lived experience and allow the audience to have a disscussion and ask any questions that they may have.
Talking Libraries is sponsered by a group of organizations that specialize in mental health and community inclusion.
These organizations have come together to assist in the support and training of the talking libraries team.
